Dear Yuletide Author (2017)

Hi! I'm Grave (ao3 user graveExcitement (arachnids)). Thanks in advance for writing for me! I hope one or more of these prompts inspires you, but feel free to ignore the prompts or only use part of them if a different idea strikes you!
The length of the prompts may vary between my requested fandoms, but this doesn't reflect any kind of preference for what I receive - I'm excited no matter which of my requests you choose to write for.
I'll take a moment to go into my Do Not Wants. These apply to all of my requests. I don't really want to see abuse; referencing/mentioning it is fine, I just don't want it to be focused on. Kismesissitudes(if you're a filthy Homestuck like me)/hatesex are great! I'd just prefer it stay in the realm of like, healthy rivalry. I also do not want any incest, minor/adult ships (based on canon ages), non-con or watersports/scat. (To clarify: I don't want non-con but I am fine with some dub-con, like sex pollen or other mind-altering substances.)
I'm also not a big fan of love triangles (at least if they don't end in polyamory) and in general would prefer for jealousy to not be a large element. Cheating is also a no.
Now for some favored tropes/elements of mine:
In general I don't tend to think of prompts that are all that explicit, so my fandom-specific prompts probably won't have any smutty prompts, but if you do want to take it in a smutty direction, I'm down! A few elements I like in my smut are: mind-altering substances (alcohol, recreational drugs, sex pollen, aphrosidiacs), mating cycles/heats (though I'm not really fond of ABO fic otherwise, so maybe don't go that specific route), telepathy/mind-melding, light bondage, xeno, tentacles. But I also like non-kinky smut, don't worry - vanilla is fine with me!
As for some non-smutty things I like: I'm a big fan of telepathy, bodyswapping, and bodysharing. I love characters cuddling/snuggling/falling asleep together. I also like hurt/comfort (especially sickfic), time travel/time loops, fake dating and fake marriage, and fics that focus on humor. I didn't really put most of these into my fandom-specific prompts, but if you want to jump off one of these tropes instead of or in addition to using the specific prompts, that's cool too!
Next, my requests:
1. The Expanse Series - James S. A. Corey --- Jim Holden, Joe Miller
(Where to find: the author's site has an excerpt and links to buy the books. That said, this is a series of fairly long books so I'm mostly including this for completeness' sake/just in case.)
I love the Expanse verse so much! The politics, the worldbuilding, it really feels to me as if this actually could be our reality in a few hundred years' time.
Warning: these prompts will be SPOILERY. I have read all 6 of the books currently out (though none of the novellas yet) and as such my prompts will have spoilers.

Either gen or Holden/Miller would be good with me; including Holden/Naomi is also fine, or a poly thing with both Holden/Miller and Holden/Naomi; but I would like the focus to be on Holden and Miller.
Mega spoiler time! God damn did I love protomolecule!Miller, the one who appeared to Holden throughout Abbadon's Gate and Cibola Burn. So anything with him would be absolutely lovely, either during the timespan of those books, or, have him continue to lurk around in Holden's brain after Cibola Burn.
(I see lots of potential for protomolecule!Miller and Holden bodysharing... that would be cool! Or just, weird side effects of Miller being in Holden's brain? Holden picking up some of Miller's tastes and mannerisms...)
Or if you're more into human!Miller, you could go canon divergent AU, and have Miller survive somehow & join the Roci's crew. Having Miller along for the ride would definitely shake things up, & his dynamic with Holden and with the rest of the Roci crew would be interesting. Or you could write something during the canon timeline, before he goes on his suicide mission and whatnot.
Really, though, whatever you come up with for these two would be great.
2. The Order of the Stick --- Vaarsuvius, Belkar

Oh my god, Belkar and Vaarsuvius. One of my favorite hateships/rivalships I've ever seen in media. That said, I'm fine whether you want to keep it gen or go Bel/Vaar. The one thing I don't want is for them to be super fluffy and lovey-dovey together. Other than that, you're good. Hatred, snark, bickering, spite, grudging respect, snarky friendship, bickering lovers, outright hatesex... all of those get the thumbs up from me!
Anything with humor would be great - bring on the pranks, the snarkfest! Alternatively, you could go for some snarky/bickering-filled hurt/comfort. Or there's always good old-fashioned hatesex. In any case: the more bickering, the better!
I've especially liked their interactions in the Blood Runs In The Family arc and the current arc (two examples), but their earlier, more hateful relationship is also fine to focus on! Whatever floats your boat.
Last note - I prefer Vaarsuvius to be genderqueer/nonbinary/androgynous. Gender-neutral pronouns highly preferred - they/them, ze/zir or other similar pronoun sets, or even just "V" and "V's", are all fine with me.
3. A Series of Unfortunate Events - Lemony Snicket --- Quigley Quagmire
(Where to find: Here's a B&N link, or here's the entire collection on Amazon. The books are fairly short individually, but there are 13 of them. First book is The Bad Beginning.)
Quigley! My favorite Quagmire! Feel free to include his siblings and/or the Baudelaires, by the way (including Quigley/Violet, if you want); but if you want to write just Quigley, that's more than okay! Quigley focus is what I'm after here.
You could write something about Quigley's journey before he meets the Baudelaires in The Slippery Slope - his escape from the Quagmire fire, his time with Jacques Snicket, his search for VFD headquarters. Or something set during his time with the Baudelaire siblings (potential for Quigley/Violet here!) You could go canon divergent AU here; what if Quigley didn't get separated from the Baudelaires at the end of Slippery Slope?
Or, you could focus on Quigley's quest to reunite with his siblings after he gets separated from the Baudelaires. The End implies a grim ending for the Quagmires, but what if they did survive? The Quagmire triplets earning their happy reunion and happy ending would be welcome.
Really, just... anything focusing on Quigley would be great, honestly!
4. Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri --- Deirdre Skye, Corazon Santiago
(Where to find it: It's available on Good Old Games for fairly cheap!)
Firstly, I'm flexible regarding how you choose to write Santiago and Deirdre's relationship; they could be friends, lovers, friendly rivals, rivals/enemies who deeply respect each other, rivals who find each other aggravating but also attractive (kismesissitude, if you happen to be a filthy Homestuck like me.) I'd prefer if they didn't just straight-up hate each other, unless you're going the hatesex route, & even then it'd be nice if they held some sort of grudging respect.
I list these options out because there are so many interesting ways you could take the Deirdre/Santiago relationship; feel free to pick what appeals to you! Whether you go friendship or rivals or shippy, gen or explicit or in-between, doesn't matter much to me.
Here are some things you could explore: how Deirdre and Santiago learned to tolerate each others' ideological differences (for the sake of an alliance, maybe? Or for the sake of a relationship? Or both? Up to you!) Or on the other hand, you could look at where they are similar rather than different; Deirdre may be focused on the environment, but she isn't exactly a pacifist, and Santiago might well respect her strength.
Something about the both of them having Planetdreams together, perhaps? Or maybe something about how they are both functionally immortal, and how over the decades and centuries they grow closer together, as a result of having few others to connect with who understand the heavy responsibilities associated with leading a faction?
The world of Alpha Centauri just fascinates me so much, so anything you explore here would be welcome. The eerie world... the starkly different personalities of the faction leaders, indeed the concept of your country being entirely centered on one ideology... the hive mind that spans across an entire planet... all of these are things I love about this game.
In conclusion, I hope you are inspired by something in this letter! Good luck, and have fun!
