graveexcitementwhen i left off last night, i was, in fact, still on Chapter Two, Part One. [below the cut i do eventually make it to Part Two, so spoilers for that.]
currently curious over what the next Main Game will be like. will there be the same roles, different roles, or a mix of same-and-different roles? or will the format be changed up in some other way?
but first i have to finish up this Final Death Attraction. right now i'm trying to prove that Reko is in fact a doll.
Sou: "...Doesn't feel good. Why is she able to cry, too...? She's basically a human at this point."
agreeing with sou here. these AI/doll combos have blasted past the Turing Test. also, i like how the dolls were slowly introduced -- first generic dolls in the Russian Roulette puzzle, then dolls of Kanna and Sara, then Joe. plus the "floor master" dolls, which don't resemble real people but do seem to be pretty coherent AIs. so it's been set up pretty well at this point. still, the fact that this Reko is a doll doesn't totally make it okay to sacrifice her against her will -- though arguably, depending on what these dolls are made of, she could potentially be repaired after falling into the spikes, whereas a human... would not.
uh... but ouch, the game is really making this tough, putting you in sara's shoes as you decide whether or not to push her. and the shot of her body, while appropriately bloodless... ouch.
-- ok, man, what is it with this game and severed heads? we've had two so far. and... hm. okay. either this game is taking an even darker turn, or i've gotten myself into a bad end :P ah, alright. turns out reko's head was fake, which i was guessing (though my other guess was that the real Reko was executed for not earning enough Clear Chips >.<) sorry, alice. and... Gashu Satou, huh? isn't Kai's last name Satou? i can't remember if i learned that in-game, accidentally read his full name online somewhere, or if i have that wrong. (also in the bit where we read the full email context, i'm wondering if something got mistranslated or if i accidentally skipped a line or two of dialogue, because the characters seem to agree that Kai may have a parent on the side of the kidnappers and i didn't see where that was coming from.)
and after a heartwarming scene with Gin and Q-Taro, i have finally gotten to Chapter Two, Part Two! man, i forgot how cool the ending music was...
oh yeah, nearly forgot about how (according to Gashu) the roles in the Main Game are now randomly assigned, but can be forcibly exchanged using the trust tokens. so... i guess it's good i didn't spend mine after all? who even knows if i got enough to be useful, though. i'll have to play on to find out, & find out how much choice i actually have in the matter. (ah, and looks like reading Rio's summary of the game thus far has been helpful, as he's just confirmed that Kai is Kai Satou.)
...WE GET TO PLAY AS SOUUUU :D who is... also... having hallucination problems, i think. not sure if this is supposed to be just a general trauma thing, or if there's something that's specifically causing hallucinations here. plus a reprise of the "do you know what a majority vote is?" creepy tutorial thing, only it seems that, idk, a Sou-doll was actually the one giving the creepy speech last time. makes me wonder if the other-Sou is actually based on Sou's personality (at any point) in some way, or if other-Sou is just programmed(?) to be malicious.
title drop. also, not sure how much of that sequence was hallucinated/dreamed, but this brings up possibilities that 1) the current Sou is a doll (but possibly not other-Sou) and the real one is dead, and 2) Sou has encountered a malicious Sara-doll and that's why he doesn't trust her. (also, Q-taro has been dragged into the Sou & Kanna alliance, apparently. honestly, like... i don't hate Q-taro, but he's my least favorite at the moment.
oh shit, main game explanation time, and this seems to be an extra-dramatic mix of this song :o side note, Gashu has a badge on his suit jacket that's the hiragana character "ぽ", or "po." what's that about?
[some time later] i've been too immersed in the game to liveblog Keiji And Sara's Nighttime Adventure, but ohhh dear, Keiji better not have been lying about his card still being a Commoner, because i don't want to lose him, dammit!
so the 9 monitors... each has an AI based on the players who completed the first trial... which is interesting since we ended up with 11 players on the first floor (counting Sara.) so, who's missing here that didn't technically complete the "First Trial"? players who have monitors: Gin, Reko, Alice, Sara, Mishima, Q-taro, Kanna, and Keiji. there's one monitor left, the far left one that got destroyed, whose picture was removed. so those 8 people can be "confirmed" to have completed the First Trial, there's 1 missing who did complete, and 2 more who -- at least based on Gashu's wording -- didn't actually complete a First Trial. Sou, Joe, and Kai are all missing. assuming there's not some fuckery going on with what "completing a trial" actually means, the monitor that got destroyed is Joe's (as he completed the trial with Sara), meaning Sou and Kai didn't go through a First Trial. supposedly.
(and since this means the broken monitor is probably Joe's, this makes me wonder if maybe whoever destroyed it had benign intentions, ie. not wanting to risk Sara getting obsessed with an AI Joe.)
the info from kai's laptop is interesting, especially the deleted background check file. who is this? the resemblance to sou is obvious (including scarf) but i think the eyes are different? brighter, maybe? still, this does add more to the idea that player-sou might be a doll.
... i think hallucination-joe is getting more creepy. also, how did you even misplace your wallet, sara? fhsgf (i mean, she WAS running around on the first floor, but it sounded like she left it in her bedroom? honestly i think it would've been smarter to take it with you, but whatever...) anyways, thank you Gin for helping Sara come to her senses <3
[some time later] ok, sou is now analyzing the data on the chip, but i've got to sleep at a slightly more reasonable time, so i guess i'm done for now. maybe... maybe next time i'll finish/catch up? [thinks about how long Main Games take] or maybe not...

honestly, like... i don't hate Q-taro, but he's my least favorite at the moment.
Yeah, I'm struggling to care much about Q-taro. (I showed him to some friends and said 'this guy's got one of the worst character design/character name combinations I've seen in my life' and got the response 'he's like a hench Japanese Ronald McDonald', and now that's all I can think about.)

Date: 2019-07-31 10:41 pm (UTC)oh good, that means it probably wasn't just me accidentally double-clicking and skipping dialogue. i'm guessing it was either some kind of mis-translation/awkward translation, or maybe the game itself is missing a dialogue line or two.
LMAO @ that Q-Taro description. i don't even mind his name (though i guess it's not doing him any favors?) but character design wise and his recent behavior... just kind of meh. like, it's not that i can technically blame him for not being willing to sacrifice himself for Gin when it's not like anyone on the upper level wanted to either, but we were trying to figure something out, and he didn't help!
that makes me think of how the Final Death Attraction is initially set up -- the person who earns the most tokens, aka the most trust, is given the choice to sacrifice themself for the least "trusted" person, which is pretty interesting.

oh, i'm guessing the LPer you watched actually spent their tokens? :P which i guess means Sara probably still tries to go for Alice's tokens, but skips the bit where she searches her room for her wallet, since it's empty or doesn't have enough anyway.
