zero escape confusion part 3

no other games today, just zero time dilemma
holy SHIT, the laser puzzle in the Reactor escape room puzzle took me goddamn forever. like, upwards of 20 minutes. i think i've been doing this puzzle for longer than i was doing the rest of the escape room.
Phi: "Have you ever considered... What if your body was split into left and right? In that moment, where would your consciousness go? Left, or right?"
this definitely seems related to the transporter/simulation thing, as well as adding to themes of "what is the Self" in general.
ah, and akane's description of multiverse theory relates to this as well.
...gotta say, the visual effects when C-Team SHIFTs is... pretty unnecessary, haha. but the team's use of SHIFTing itself to try and solve shit is pretty cool.
anyhow... mark me down as slightly confused. i'd gone this long thinking that the answers to "Who killed Mira," "What's the fourth choice for who to shoot in 'Triangle,'" and "What's the 8-digit number to open the Door of Truth" were just things i hadn't learned yet. but it's apparent that at least one of them is supposed to be solvable right now, because i've done everything else that isn't locked. (i mean, i haven't done the Force Quit stuff, but i don't have the answers to those, either.)
ok, well, i know it's not the Door of Truth thing, because the only 8-digit passcode i've learned definitely doesn't unlock that. so it's one of the Q-team decisions, then.
but... the Triangle decision doesn't accept Q, it doesn't accept Sean (it just says "ERROR," which is more annoying since i thought learning Q's name would solve it; it would be nice if it at least acknowledged that Sean was the name), it doesn't accept MYSELF ("YOU CANNOT COMMIT SUICIDE"), and... that leaves me baffled as to what else to try.
and as for "Who killed Mira?" (the Pop Off decision), i had believed that the missing piece in between the end of Suspicion and the beginning of Pop Off would reveal Mira's killer, and that would be my answer to this decision. but nope -- it's just Carlos SHIFTing to this timeline. so what do i tell eric that doesn't end with him shooting Q? i've tried several things, but apparently i'm having a failure of imagination.
i mean -- who DID kill mira? in the previous games, the murders, at least the ones before any endings, are mysteries whose answers are very important to the plot. but in ZTD, it seems like, when they wake up and a character is already dead (and the death wasn't due to prior actions in a different fragment)... i kind of just assume it was Zero, or more likely Zero's minions (the other Q-bodies) on Zero's behalf. because it's not just that they find a dead body, it's that they find Mira's body in a damn pod (and before that, Junpei's head in the pantry) -- how could a non-Zero actor have set those up?
but, "Zero" is not an acceptable answer for Eric. so either it's not Zero and i need to figure out who/what actually killed her, or it is Zero and i have to figure out an answer Eric will find acceptable.
she was strangled... someone managed to kill the serial killer, which is impressive... (though not so impressive if she was unconscious) and then Q found an electronic key in her mouth (was that something she put there, or something the killer put there...) i just don't -- the ONLY person who's down for unprovoked murders in this game is Mira herself! everyone else only kills when provoked! and i know there's a way to cross between wards, but only Mira's been shown to do that, and at this point most of the other characters are dead anyways, so...
mm. what am i not getting? normally i'm not afraid to look stuff up if i'm truly stuck, but this feels like it's a situation where the game thinks i should have the information. and if i do have the information and just haven't put it together yet, i'd like to actually put it together myself. if i don't, i'd like to figure out how to get that information.
hmmm. this could very well be a situation where the fact that it's nearly 6am is hindering my logical reasoning skills again. so i guess i'll go to sleep, and maybe tomorrow i'll go "wait, it must be THIS!" and solve one of the things.
ETA: dangit, i just thought of another thing to try, but i’m already in bed. it’ll have to wait.
also, brief life update as well; my grandma and aunt were meant to arrive yesterday (i don't count it as the "next day" until i go to sleep or the sun comes up, so yesterday is Wednesday) but their flight was cancelled and they had to come late today (Thursday) instead. so tomorrow (Friday) we're having a second round of gift opening (gifts they gave us and gifts we gave them -- plus some gifts that shipped late.) so i'm excited for that, though obviously not excited enough to go to bed at a reasonable hour. then we'll probably be doing Family Social Activities, so i won't be back to zero escape until tomorrow night (Friday night), most likely. maybe in ~15 hours, i'll have figured out what to do in ZTD.
