tuesday again
my brother (who is 14) and i have been in a stalemate for the last few days; i want to get him to play zero escape, and he wants to get me to play (more) ace attorney. (i played the first two AA games last year.) hopefully, we're both going to get what we want, by alternating which games we play. or at least that's what i suggested. today we started by playing the first case of the third Ace Attorney game, Trials and Tribulations. which, you know... tutorial case, so not all that interesting, but it was neat to play as Mia.
and hopefully tomorrow (or the next time we decide to play a story-based game, as opposed to like, smash ultimate) i can get him started on the first zero escape game. he's a danganronpa fan (like me; this is also why i got into ze, because lots of DR people seemed to be into it) so i think he'll enjoy it.
tomorrow i have an eye doctor's appointment at 10, so i have to get up early (for me; since i'm on vacation, i tend to get up at 12 at the earliest, and more often later than that.) & then on thursday, dentist appointment. maybe i can finally get my permanent crown seated...?
school starts for me in one (1) week. this semester i'm taking 4 classes: Japanese (my fourth semester), American Literature, World Literature, & a 'class' that actually means i'll be helping edit my community college's literary magazine.
...though... now i'm looking at my degree plan again and maybe i only need one of those lit classes?? heck. well, i should probably meet with an adviser IRL to make sure i'm set to graduate anyways, i'll just... have to make sure i do that early enough to drop one if i need to. (though if the workload isn't too big, it might be worth taking it anyways.)
in any case, if all goes well at the end of this semester i'll have my associate's in creative writing. and after that... well... i don't know. change is scary, and so are big life decisions.

but hey, you're on your school's literary magazine? i am too! i'm loving it so far, it's all so much fun and our group works really well together. (i mean, like, it's five really sweet agreeable people, me, and my boyfriend so)
have so much fun!

nice!! i have no idea who else will be working with me on our literary magazine, but i at least know the prof. i’m looking forward to it though! in my senior yr of high school my creative writing class also put together a lit magazine, and that was fun. of course, we had like 20 ppl in that class, whereas this one will probably have, 3 or 4, lmao. hope you have fun with yours!

I haven't heard of Zero Escape before; I'm guessing that it's a kinda visual novel style game, with the comparison to DR?
CC literary magazines are really fun! When I was at CC, I was part of theirs for most quarters, and we had a surprising number of consistent people; it was like, ~15 folk and a good 5-7 consistent people in it.

nice! last time i checked, my lit magazine ‘class’ only had like 2-3 other people in it, but that was a few weeks ago, so we might have more by the time school actually starts... who knows, haha.

Probably there'll be at least another one or two people, right? I hope it's fun regardless of how many people end up being in the class, though!

probably! it’s funny, at this community college with some classes you can register only a few days before the semester starts and still not need to worry about classes being full — way different from my one year at university, haha! (there, it feels like you can refresh the page .5 seconds after registration opens and half your picks are full already...)

oh man, i did something pretty much identical in college and it was fantastic. i hope you have as much fun and learn as much as i did!
best of luck for your final semester! 🍀🍀🍀

ZE and DR are also both excellent. :D

i’ve been a big DR fan for several years and i’ve gotten into ZE in the last few months — big fan of both! :D

I'd read it, I said, and Oren said, yeah, maybe I will, then.
And he did, and posted it up on SomethingAwful, and then that Let's Play EXPLODED in popularity and is likely what prompted the English releases. My relationship with DR is therefore both fannish (I've cosplayed from it a few times, own all the games, played them all, own merch) and oddly maternal-feeling. I was there, man. I was there. :D

but as for whether i’ll actually be able to use it for something, i don’t know! i’d love to be fluent enough to read it decently, at least (i tend to prioritize reading over listening/speaking.)
