I think what I most gained from KonMari is an understanding of my space. In the three and change years since I first did the whole thing I've never gotten anywhere near as bad and I've only missed some random craft supplies I tossed. I really thought I would regret the books and action figures, but not even a little bit.
What I find super valuable now is the knowledge that when an area goes to shit there's a reason for it. That reason is that it doesn't bring me joy. The work from there is to figure out how to make it bring me joy. Sometimes that means tossing out pieces of furniture, sometimes just a simple reorganization, but once I do whatever it's like something clicks in my brain.
